REVELATION:  THE CUP OF JESUS  6/18/09

Matt 26:42 NKJV

Again, a second time, He went away and prayed, saying, "O My Father, if this cup cannot pass away from Me unless I drink it, Your will be done."

REVELATION:  I was downloaded with the Word of Knowledge as I read the above scripture.  This was not the first time Jesus had seen this cup and that is what He meant when He said, “If this cup cannot pass away from Me.”  Jesus had seen this cup many times in His life and the Father continued to bring it before Him.

WORD FROM WISDOM:  When we receive rhema from gifts of the Spirit that yield something unknown about Scripture, it is very important that these are always grounded in scriptural verification.  Truth, according to scripture, must be verified with at least 2-3 confirmations or witnesses.  So when discovering something unknown about the scriptures, you need 2-3 other scriptures to validate.  The following are scriptures the Lord brought to mind when I asked Him if there were scriptures that validated this revelation.

Matthew 18:16 NKJV

"But if he will not hear, take with you one or two more, that 'by the mouth of two or three witnesses every word may be established.'

2 Corinthians NKJV

This will be the third time I am coming to you. "By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established."

1)  Jesus spoke about the cup of His destiny prior to Gethsemane:

Matt 20:22-23 NKJV

But Jesus answered and said, "You do not know what you ask. Are you able to drink the cup that I am about to drink , and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? "They said to Him, "We are able."  23 So He said to them, "You will indeed drink My cup , and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with.

John 18:11  NKJV

So Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword into the sheath. Shall I not drink the cup which My Father has given Me?"

CUP  - Greek

poterion

NT:4221 poterion (pot-ay'-ree-on); neuter of a derivative of the alternate of NT:4095; a drinking-vessel; by extension, the contents thereof, i.e. a cupful (draught); figuratively, a lot or fate:

KJV - cup.

NT:4095

NT:4095 pino (pee'-no); a prolonged form of pio (pee'-o); which (together with another form poo (po'-o); occurs only as an alternate in certain tenses; to imbibe (literally or figuratively):

KJV - drink.

IMBIBE:  (Websters)  To soak, absorb, steep, drink.

PONDERINGS:  I was drawn to look up the word, “Imbibe” since I had no idea what it meant.  So this implies that the Lord soaked, absorbed and steeped in the cup the Father gave Him to drink.  This took time.  It is like a tea bag that soaks in the hot water, until all of the flavor is drawn out of the bag.

PIXI saw cucumbers in brine and they were absorbing the salty brine in order to cure them and preserve them.

2)  The Lord’s cup was also prophesied in the OT, which Jesus knew.

Ps 116:12-19 NKJV

What shall I render to the LORD For all His benefits toward me? 13 I will take up the cup of salvation, And call upon the name of the LORD. 14 I will pay my vows to the LORD Now in the presence of all His people.  15 Precious in the sight of the LORD Is the death of His saints.  16 O LORD, truly I am Your servant; I am Your servant, the son of Your maidservant; You have loosed my bonds. 17 I will offer to You the sacrifice of thanksgiving, And will call upon the name of the LORD.  18 I will pay my vows to the LORD Now in the presence of all His people, 19 In the courts of the LORD's house, In the midst of you, O Jerusalem. Praise the LORD!

Ps 16:5

O LORD, You are the portion of my inheritance and my cup; You maintain my lot.

3)  The OT also speaks about Jeremiah who had a cup to drink for the nations.  Therefore the idea of swallowing a cup was quite scriptural.

Jer 25:15-17  NKJV

For thus says the LORD God of Israel to me: "Take this wine cup of fury from My hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send you, to drink it. 16 And they will drink and stagger and go mad because of the sword that I will send among them."  17 Then I took the cup from the LORD's hand, and made all the nations drink, to whom the LORD had sent me:

HEARDIt’s as you say Sweetheart, very true. The cup of the Lord.

HEARDIndependent.  Not My will but Thine be done.  Doing nothing but what My Father’s says.

COMMENT:  As I looked up the following scriptures and read them in order, my eyes and heart filled with tears.  The Father’s heart over His Son came upon me, as I exclaimed, “Oh Jesus, You were such an amazing Son when you were on earth!”  His Father was so deeply touched by His willing heart, as Jesus struggled to overcome His own flesh to be willing and then obedient.  What tender love they had for one another during Jesus’ journey on earth!

John 5:19-20  NKJV

Then Jesus answered and said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.  20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself does.

John 5:30  NKJV

I can of Myself do nothing . As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.

John 8:28-30  NKJV

Then Jesus said to them, "When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things.  29 And He who sent Me is with Me. The Father has not left Me alone, for I always do those things that please Him."

John 12:49-50  NKJV

For I have not spoken on My own authority; but the Father who sent Me gave Me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.

John 14:10-11  NKJV

Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.

AMAZING CONFIRMATION

Ps 23:5  NKJV

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.

I had just read the above scripture, doing a word study search on the cup of the Lord.  About 2 minutes later, I received the following email:

“God bless you too Sandy. I surely enjoy your work in the Lord!!! Your cup is surely overflowing and your rewards in heaven must be phenomenal!!!!”

WORD TO PONDER:  THE CUP OF THE LORD   6/18/09

I have given you a cup to drink, which is My will for your destiny in My kingdom.  As often as you ponder this truth, it soaks deeper into your life until you finally wholeheartedly accept the full cup.

I have received your commitment to Me and how great and tender is My love for you!  In efforts to be faithful to this vow, I see you wrestle between flesh and soul to line them up with My will.  I gave you free will and it means so much when you lay down your independence for My sake.   You are such a precious child and you give Me such joy when you seek to wholeheartedly please Me.
