Sometimes, the Lord speaks to us in strange ways. This was one of those experiences. Wayne and I were walking in the mall and he asked me if I remembered some quote about two men who were on the beach at night. One looked down and saw sand, the other looked up and saw stars. I didn’t know any quote as such, so I answered, "No I don’t, but I guess it would be good to have a balance of both, as well as to look straight ahead and not backwards."

At the moment I said that, a little girl in the distance looked behind her while she was walking and thus walked straight into a rack. This was so timely, Wayne and I just stared at each other with big eyes. We both knew the Lord must be saying something.

I silently asked Him what He was saying, then I got lost in my thoughts as I was applying looking down and looking up. I thought about writing a new section in the 101 Ways God Speaks book on seeking His guidance by balancing His supernatural with our natural. I was thinking that if you only look down at the natural life, you’ll miss the Lord’s supernatural touch, and if you only look up, you’ll STUMBLE being so heavenly minded you will be no earthly good. Then just as I thought that, the man walking toward me stumbled over his sandal! Talk about "walking" parables!

WORD TO PONDER: KEEP YOUR FOCUS

The enemy wants to distract you from moving on, - moving forward into your inheritance. His ploy is to get you to look backward into the past and believe things will always be the same. He wants you to look at the old wounds and the old scars and remember.

I have placed you in a tight place, where you have no choice but to move forward and press into Me. Remember Lot’s wife, for this is a time when I am saying, "Don’t look back." Do not wish for yesterday, do not bear the misery of painful memories, do not even consider what used to be. When you look back, it crystallizes your mind and creates mind-sets or strongholds of old ways and set patterns. Dear one, your past is not before you, it is behind you.

I AM doing a new thing. For I know the plans I have for you and that is to give you a future and a hope. I will rebuild your life and do a new thing in a new way. As you feel the heat of tribulations pressing you, use it to run to Me, for I will catch you and surely I will keep you. Hold onto My Words and wait for Me. As you work through tough ground, I accomplish My purposes. You have nothing to fear.

You see yourself with such limits. I see only your potential. I am re-defining who you are in Me. You have My favor, My precious one. Now align with My Word, for I want to establish and confirm you. I will change your focus from life as it was, to anticipation with life in Me. I will move your perspectives from pessimism to optimism. I will balance your supernatural gifting with My practical wisdom and bring you into My healthy vessel. This is the way, walk in Me.
