TEAM MINISTRY

WAYNE WARNER DREAM: I was talking to a 5 member basketball team who had become world champions. All of them had reddish brown skin that seemed to glow. For some reason, they all seemed to appear identical. They began to tell me their story of how they became world champions.

They had each been individual star basketball players and were chosen from among all the other players to form a team that would win. They said that in the first years they were together, they could never win even at the lowest levels of competition - because they each were trying to be the main star of the team and believed their teammates should support them to win the game for them.

Finally after many years of defeat they tried to exert shear willpower to become a unified team. That year they went all the way to the finals. But when they had to play the best teams, their willpower failed them and they each began to do things their own way once again and so they lost once again.

Even though they were the best basketball players of their time, they realized that unless they became a real team they would never win. So each of them gave up their stardom and concentrated on becoming a unified team that played as a team of equal parts.

Each one served the others of the team and did what was best for the team and was no longer concerned with what was best for themselves. In the process they became unified and that is why they appeared to look like each other. Of course they went on to become the world champions, not because they were great individually, (even though they were great individually) but because they had become a great team of great individuals working together to accomplish the goal of winning.

WORD TO PONDER: LEARNING TEAM MINISTRY

I AM teaching you how to operate on a team and flow in My Spirit. One of the ways I do this is through intimate prayer meetings and home groups. You will learn that each member has an important gift, no matter how small or insignificant. It’s not about you and your gift, but about My body sharing My Word so that all may benefit. You will also learn that success is only in letting go and submitting what I give to you back to Me for the perfect timing and sharing, because the flesh profits nothing. You can have My Word but through the force of your flesh still miss the target.

Be careful in the pursuit of teamship that you do not compromise your calling, the integrity of My Word, or My holy standards. As long as you ask for My help and lean on Me, I will keep you from missing the mark. Be sure to lay down all agendas, for there is a difference between My zeal and the zeal of the flesh. The enemy would have you so caught up and busy in ambitious goals that you miss My Word in your life. I place a passion within your heart to accomplish My will, but to be yoked with Me in service is to find refreshment for your bodies, souls and spirits. I give you seasons of productivity and rest as you need it.
