{Revelation} Quickened Scripture: Zacharias' Rebuke

QUICKENED SCRIPTURE: ZACHARIAS' REBUKE

Luke 1:18-20

And Zacharias said to the angel, "How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is well advanced in years."

And the angel answered and said to him, "I am Gabriel, who stands in the presence of God, and was sent to speak to you and bring you these glad tidings. But behold, you will be mute and not able to speak until the day these things take place, because you did not believe my words which will be fulfilled in their own time."

REVELATION: I pondered Gabriel's response to Zacharias and suddenly received a download of hidden understanding. Zacharias was a priest and was already well acquainted with the Presence of the Lord as he ministered in the temple. When Gabriel came to Zacharias, he was standing in the tangible Presence of the Lord and Zacharias experienced this. His faith should have been paramount to not only receive an angelic visitation but also to receive the Lord's Presence in that room. He responded to Gabriel's message in the natural with his natural mind and it offended the Lord.

Rom 8:5-8 NKJV

For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be. So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

1 Cor 2:14-15 NKJV

But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.

PRAYER: Lord we earnestly want to hear more and see more of You and what You are doing. We have offended You! Please forgive us for impeding Your Words through the filter of our natural minds. In Your mercy, please grant the grace to filter all You say through the life of Your quickening Spirit. Grant us Your wisdom and understanding and mature us in Your heavenly ways. In Jesus Name!
