RHEMA 8/15/08  WATCHING YOUR P’S AND Q’S

Pix:   I saw Sesame Street characters all holding onto a wheel that was rolling.

Heard:  I am moving.  It’s a lot to think about.  The world around you.  Much is happening today in heaven and on earth.  What is it going to be like?  Acute.

PIX:  I saw a pair of ivory elephant horns.

Ps 132:17 NKJV

There I will make the horn of David grow; I will prepare a lamp for My Anointed.

HORN

qeren

OT:7161 qeren (keh'-ren); from OT:7160; a horn (as projecting); by implication, a flask, cornet; by resembl. an elephant's tooth (i.e. ivory), a corner (of the altar), a peak (of a mountain), a ray (of light); figuratively, power:

KJV -  hill, horn.

Ps 132:17 KJV

There will I make the horn of David to bud: I have ordained a lamp for mine anointed.

Ps 132:17 NLT

Here I will increase the power of David; my anointed one will be a light for my people.

Heard:  Budget.  Fellowship.  Watch your P’s and Q’s.

WATCH YOUR P’S AND Q’S

  1. From an old printer's axiom about old linotype printing presses.  Each line of text had to be set up one letter at a time by hand. Since the letters in the press were reversed (so they'd print forward), the printmaker (or typographer) needed to be careful not to confuse one letter for the other.  The letter p is a backwards q.

Heb 5:13-14 NKJV

For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

Ezekiel 44:23 NKJ

And they shall teach My people the difference between the holy and the unholy, and cause them to discern between the unclean and the clean.

  1. This axiom, regardless of its origins, has been common in post-victorian Britain as an abbreviation of 'to mind your manners' or, more specifically, to mind your Please and Thank yous.

Eph 5:20-21 NKJV

giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

1 Thess 5:18 NKJV

in everything give thanks ; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.

  1. From Irish pubs, "Pints and Quarts", were the two main measurements for drinks.

Prov 16:11 NKJV

Honest weights and scales are the LORD's; All the weights in the bag are His work.

Matt 9:17 NKJV

Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins , or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins , and both are preserved."

WORD TO PONDER:  WATCHING YOUR P’s and Q’s  8/15/08

I AM advancing My kingdom and bringing forth generations of children who are budding in My power.  They are maturing in how to discern between the holy and the profane.  They are learning to spend My grace on planting good seeds instead of sowing wild oats in the world.  Their faith is growing and learning to be thankful for all things, for this is My will.  And they are learning how to treat others fairly in just weights and balances.  They are learning how to walk in the new Wine of My Presence instead of the ways of the world.  These are My beloved children in whom I AM well pleased.

Ps 89:17 NKJV

For You are the glory of their strength, And in Your favor our horn is exalted.

Ps 148:13-14 NKJV

Let them praise the name of the LORD, For His name alone is exalted; His glory is above the earth and heaven.   And He has exalted the horn of His people,

The praise of all His saints —  Of the children of Israel, A people near to Him.  Praise the LORD!
