PROMISES TO THOSE WHO ARE MEEK  4/19/08

Jesus said of Himself that He was meek.  Those who are meek, are humble, lowly, self abased, gentle, and submitted.  The promises of the meek are that they will:

  1. inherit the earth.

  2. be delighted in an abundance of peace.

  3. receive equity (justice and fairness)

  4. be hidden in the day of the Lord.

  5. trust in the Lord.

Psalms 37:11 NKJV

But the meek {6035} shall inherit the earth, and shall delight themselves in the abundance of peace.

Isaiah 11:4 NKJV

But with righteousness He shall judge the poor, And decide with equity for the meek {6035} of the earth; He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked.

Zephaniah 2:3 NKJV

Seek the LORD, all you meek {6035} of the earth, Who have upheld His justice. Seek righteousness, seek humility. It may be that you will be hidden  in the day of the LORD's anger.

Zephaniah 3:12 NKJV

I will leave in your midst  a meek {6035} and humble people, and they shall trust in the name of the LORD.

MEEK - OT

`anav

OT:6035 `anav (aw-nawv'); or [by intermixture with OT:6041] `anayv (aw-nawv'); from OT:6031; depressed (figuratively), in mind (gentle) or circumstances (needy, especially saintly):

KJV - humble, lowly, meek, poor. Compare OT:6041.

`anah

OT:6031 `anah (aw-naw'); a primitive root [possibly rather ident. with OT:6030 through the idea of looking down or browbeating]; to depress literally or figuratively, transitive or intransitive (in various applications, as follows):

KJV - abaseself, afflict (-ionself,), answer [by mistake for OT:6030], chastenself, deal hardly with, defile, exercise, force, gentleness, humble (self), hurt, ravish, sing [by mistake for OT:6030], speak [by mistake for OT:6030], submitself, weaken, in any wise.

Matthew 5:5 NKJV

Blessed are the meek {4239}, for they shall inherit the earth.

Matt 11:29-30 KJV

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek {4235}  and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

Matt 21:5 KJV

Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, {4239} and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass.

1 Peter 3:4 KJV

But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek {4239}  and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

MEEK - NT

praus

NT:4239 praus (prah-ooce'); apparently a primary word; mild, i.e. (by implication) humble:

KJV - meek. See also NT:4235.

praios

NT:4235 praios (prah'-os); a form of NT:4239, used in certain parts; gentle, i.e. humble:

KJV - meek.
