What is Presumption?

WORD O’ GRAM: WHAT IS PRESUMPTION?

Plowing through life with personal ambition
Refusing to be teachable
Entering territory that is off limits
Sinning without expecting consequence
Ultimately expecting God to back you
Maneuvering out of God’s discipline
Protecting personal agenda
Thinking independently with predetermined mind-sets
I am reigning instead of God
Opinions that are not true
Not allowing God access

PRESUMPTION: I have prayed many prayers in my life, but one of the ones that I repeat most often is that the Lord strongly keep me from presumption. Presumption is assuming something is God, when it is not. Presumption is assuming something is not God, when it is.

• Presumption is prophesying words in His Name that He did not speak.
• Presumption is making a change of direction when it is not God’s will.
• Presumption is assuming that something spiritual is God.
• Presumption is the zeal of flesh’s refusal to wait on God.
• Presumption is not waiting for God to send 2-3 confirmations.
• Presumption is self sufficiency and independence from God.
• Presumption is moving ahead of God and His timing.
• Presumption is choosing a war that is beyond scriptural boundaries.
• Presumption is choosing a ministry that is outside of God’s prescribed grace.
• Presumption does not fear God.

Prov 14:26-27 NKJV
In the fear of the LORD there is strong confidence, and His children will have a place of refuge. The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, to turn one away from the snares of death.

Ps 19:12-13 NKJV
Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me.

Job 36:9-10 AMP
Then He shows to them [the true character of] their deeds and their transgressions, that they have acted arrogantly [with presumption and self-sufficiency]. He also opens their ears to instruction and discipline, and commands that they return from iniquity.

Prov 1:28-31 NKJV
"Then they will call on me, but I will not answer; They will seek me diligently, but they will not find me. Because they hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the LORD, They would have none of my counsel and despised my every rebuke. Therefore they shall eat the fruit of their own way, and be filled to the full with their own fancies.
