HOW TO PREPARE FOR TIMES OF CRISIS

1)  MONEY ISSUES: Get out debt.  Stay out of debt.

People who are in debt are in danger of losing homes, bank accounts, cars and assets.  Scripture tells us to owe no many anything except love.  Sacrifice everything you can to get out of debt.  Anything outside of debt free is a gambling time bomb.

Rom 13:8-9

Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law.

Prov 3:27-28

Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in the power of your hand to do so.  Do not say to your neighbor, "Go, and come back, And tomorrow I will give it," When you have it with you.

Rom 13:7

Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.

Get out of the stock market, it is a gamble.  Invest in coins: gold, silver, platinum, and land.  Keep some in a safe place in case banks fail, bank holidays or change in currency.

2)  STOCK PROVISIONS FOR 3.5 MONTHS

In times of crisis, if supply lines fail for a period of time, store shelves will be empty in a matter of hours. What you have stock piled in your home will be helpful and increase in value for yourself and others as the days move forward. Keep enough to share and also barter.  Stocking not only includes consumables, but also the Words of the Lord that you may draw upon.

Prov 6:6-11 AMP
Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider her ways and be wise! — [Job 12:7.] Which, having no chief, overseer, or ruler, Provides her food in the summer and gathers her supplies in the harvest. How long will you sleep, O sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep? [Prov 24:33,34.] Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to lie down and sleep — So will your poverty come like a robber or one who travels [with slowly but surely approaching steps] and your want like an armed man [making you helpless]. [Prov 10:4; 13:4; 20:4.]

Proverbs 30:25 NKJV
The ants are a people not strong, Yet they prepare their food in the summer.

Proverbs 10:5 NKJV
He who gathers in summer is a wise son; He who sleeps in harvest is a son who causes shame.

Revelation 3:10 NKJV
Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world, to test those who dwell on the earth.

Proverbs 15:16 NKJV
Better is a little with the fear of the LORD, Than great treasure with trouble.

Luke 22:35-37

And He said to them, "When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?" So they said, "Nothing."   Then He said to them, "But now, he who has a money bag, let him take it, and likewise a knapsack; and he who has no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.

3)  MOVE TO SAFETY AND COMMUNITY LIVING

There are people who the Lord has called to be intercessors to stand in the gap and actually live in a dangerous region.  There are people who are called to go into a dangerous region after times of crisis.  We need to follow the Lord's heart in regards to these things.   However the following is generic wisdom for what is coming.

Move out of large cities.  Move away from the east coast cities.  In a time of crisis, if people are hungry, it invites anarchy in the streets and gang stripping of homes.  East coast is also vulnerable to missile attacks and increased terrorism.  All large cities are vulnerable to terrorism.

Move away from west coast beaches due to earthquakes, tidal waves.  Move away from hurricane beach fronts in the south.  Move away from volcanoes and breaking dams.

Move where you can grow food and find water.

Ps 55:9-11

Destroy, O Lord, and divide their tongues, For I have seen violence and strife in the city.  Day and night they go around it on its walls; Iniquity and trouble are also in the midst of it.  Destruction is in its midst; Oppression and deceit do not depart from its streets.

If you wait until a crisis takes place, you will not be able to sell your home.

4)  CONSIDER NUCLEAR FALLOUT

If a nuclear power plant or fallout from a dirty bomb has damaged your area, let go and leave the area.  This is considerate of those who would be endangered in reaching you with supplies.

Matt 7:12

Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

If you stay with the crowds in a crisis, you may be put under marshal law.

HIS BRIDE IS A SURVIVOR

5)  SEEK THE LORD INSTEAD OF THE WORLD

The best way to protect yourself from God's discipline is to align your lifestyle with Jesus Christ and the Word of God.  Re-read the gospels of Jesus Christ and Paul's writings to examine your life.  Are you living holy and dependant upon the Lord or the world?

Matt 6:31-34

"Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?'  32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.  33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.  34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Eph 5:11-16

And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.  12 For it is shameful even to speak of those things which are done by them in secret. 13 But all things that are exposed are made manifest by the light, for whatever makes manifest is light. 14 Therefore He says: "Awake, you who sleep, Arise from the dead, And Christ will give you light."  15 See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

HOLINESS VS CARNALITY

6)  REPENT FOR VOTING FOR SIN

Angels record how you vote and who you vote for.  Elections are not about money.  When you vote for a person to represent YOU, when they vote to support sin, you are too.

When you spend money on violent, sexual and filthy language movies, books, and entertainment you are voting to sustain and promote those things.  Every time you spend money for filthy entertainment, you are casting your vote.  Repent and change your mind, with the fear of the Lord.

ENTERTAINMENT:

James 4:1-10

Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members? 2 You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask. 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. 4 Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, "The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously"? 6 But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: "God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble."  7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.

Cable TV, the internet, the grocery stores and soon every kind of media are gathering information on what you choose.  When you purchase anything, it is being tabulated for advertisers as your vote.  When you stop watching carnal entertainment, it is not funded and will subsequently change to wholesome media.

3.  How to cook grains, legumes, beans in a thermos

STARTING A FIRE WITHOUT MATCHES

CHAR TO CATCH THE SPARK

Char is the bridge to catch a spark and transfer the spark to the tinder.

Char is cotton cloth that has been burned and turned into charcoal or a tiny lump of coal. Char catches a spark and keeps it smoldering without bursting into flames. This will keep the tinder burning longer to catch the larger pieces of wood on fire.  It is also possible to carry smoldering char to start fire elsewhere.

Cut up 100% cotton Tshirt into 2 inch pieces.  Put into a covered tin so no oxygen is allowed to catch the pieces fire. Put the tin into the fire and cook for 10 minutes.  Cool before taking lid off, or it may catch on fire.  If all cloth is black and no color, it is char.

The smoldering char will be placed on top of a pre-built tinder nest.

BUILDING A TINDER NEST

Make a small nest from something that is dry and easily burnable.

·        Cattails (a plant that grows in swampy areas)

·        Birch bark

·        Juniper bark

·        Pine pitch and pine shavings

·        A piece of fungus

·        Birch bark

·        Moss

·        Dead scotch broom

·        Dead grass

·        Dry leaves

·        Pine cones (especially with pitch)

·        Shavings from the bark of cedar trees

·        Lint from pockets

·        Cotton balls coated with Vaseline  (stored in plastic bags)

·        Dryer lint soaked in melted wax  (stored in plastic bags)

·        Sawdust in paraffin wax

·        Greasy snack food like chips

·        Wrap newspaper around cotton twine and cover with wax

·        Hand sanitizer like germx

·        Compressed, non applicator, bullet type tampons

·        Cotton makeup remover pads soaked with lighter fluid

·        Cotton rope

·        Human hair or animal fur

METHODS TO IGNITE The SPARK

Flint and Steel

Get a spark from striking steel to flint.

Strike the steel against the flint until sparks land on the char cloth, causing a glow.

Fold up char cloth into the tinder nest and gently blow on it to start a flame.

==========

Lens Based Methods

Focus a sunlight beam onto a tinder nest (or char) through a lens shape that reflects light.  Since this is a beam and not a spark, you can bypass the char if needed.

A magnifying glass

Eyeglasses

Binocular lenses

Add water to the lens, to intensify the beam.

Angle the lens towards the sun in order to focus the beam into as small an area as possible. Put your tinder nest under this spot and wait for fire.  Only works when you have sun.

Balloons and Condoms

Fill with water and shape spherical and hold 1-2 inches from tinder.

Clear Ice shaped into a 2 inches lens

A lens is thicker in the middle and narrower at the edge

Polish with hot hands

A soda can and chocolate bar

Polish the bottom of a soda can with the chocolate to shine it like a mirror. Toothpaste also works.  Hold about 1 inch from the tinder.

==========

Batteries and Steel Wool

9 volt battery

Any type battery

Stretch out steel wool to hold it and so that it burns longer

Rub the battery on steel wool, gently blow once it begins to glow and burn

Transfer the burning wool to your tinder nest.

HOW TO MAKE A HOBO STOVE TO BOIL WATER

Hobo stoves burn very hot due to the fire contained in the chute.  They boil water very rapidly.

1.  Tin can

2.  Cut the top of the can lid off with a can opener.

3.  Use the triangle end of a bottle opener to cut holes along the bottom of the can.  Do the same near the top.  (Or punch holes with something to create vents.  Fire needs oxygen in order to burn.)

4.  Cut a large rectangle hole along one side of the can, for inserting tinder.

5.  Indent 2 holes on both sides on top of the can, for a total of 4 indents.

6.  Use sturdy wire like fondue sticks, or clothes hanger to lay into dents.  This will form a platform to put pan onto.

7.  Build fire inside the can and face the hole towards the wind.

Here are some photos of variations of the above:

GRAIN & BEANS COOKING WITHOUT ELECTRICITY

THERMOS COOKING

  • Wide mouth, *insulated, stainless steel thermos

  • Funnel

  • Long handled brush to clean

* Make sure the thermos is well insulated, as that keeps the temperature hotter longer and keeps the food from spoiling.

ABOUT ADDING SALT

It takes longer for the water to boil with salt, because water boils at a hotter temperature with salt.  It takes longer for the beans and grains to cook with salt, because the salt interacts with the starchy coating.  If a bean is soaked first, salt does not interfere with cooking time.

DRIED VEGIES FOR FLAVOR

  • 1 T dried onion = 1 onion

  • ¼ ts of celery seed to 2 T water = 1 stalk of celery

  • 1 part dried carrot to 2 parts water

  • ½ cup dried cubed potatoes to 1.5 cups water

Laying the thermos on its side allows the food to soak the water evenly.

Can use a hobo stove to boil water.  They are fueled by pinecones, sticks, dried dung, leaves, etc.
