RHEMA 1/08/08  KNOCKING FOR A COMMITMENT

VISIONI saw something that had been given to a person, but instead it was passed down to the grandchildren, because the person had closed the door and said no.

CT:  2:11  {gold;  alabaster box}
'Owphiyr

OT:211 'Owphiyr (o-feer'); or (shortened) 'Ophiyr (o-feer'); and 'Owphir (ofeer'); of uncertain derivation; Ophir, the name of a son of Joktan, and of a gold region in the East:

KJV - Ophir.

NT:211

NT:211 alabastron (al-ab'-as-tron); neuter of alabastros (of uncertain derivation), the name of a stone; properly, an "alabaster" box, i.e. (by extension) a perfume vase (of any material):

KJV - (alabaster) box.
HEARD:  Had I known when I walked into that store.  Role modeled passion.  You dont have a life to call your own.  Committed.  It’s a life.  Too dangerous for me.  Scary.  My spouse would never understand.  I said no.

HEARD:  That person shall get exactly what they requested.  No friendship.  Just let them go.  Set free.

Matt 10:37-39 NKJV

He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me.  38 And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.  39 He who finds his life will lose it, and he who loses his life for My sake will find it.

Luke 9:62 NKJV

Now it happened as they journeyed on the road, that someone said to Him, "Lord, I will follow You wherever You go."  58 And Jesus said to him, "Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay His head."   59 Then He said to another, "Follow Me." But he said, "Lord, let me first go and bury my father."  60 Jesus said to him, "Let the dead bury their own dead, but you go and preach the kingdom of God."  61 And another also said, "Lord, I will follow You, but let me first go and bid them farewell who are at my house."  62 But Jesus said to him, "No one, having put his hand to the plow, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God."

1 Kings 19:19-21 NKJV

Then Elijah passed by him and threw his mantle on him. 20 And he left the oxen and ran after Elijah, and said, "Please let me kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow you." And he said to him, "Go back again, for what have I done to you?"  21 So Elisha turned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen and slaughtered them and boiled their flesh, using the oxen's equipment, and gave it to the people, and they ate. Then he arose and followed Elijah, and became his servant.

Luke 14:16-24 NKJV

Then He said to him, "A certain man gave a great supper and invited many,  17 and sent his servant at supper time to say to those who were invited, 'Come, for all things are now ready.'  18 But they all with one accord began to make excuses. The first said to him, 'I have bought a piece of ground, and I must go and see it. I ask you to have me excused.'  19 And another said, 'I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I am going to test them. I ask you to have me excused.'  20 Still another said, 'I have married a wife, and therefore I cannot come.'  21 So that servant came and reported these things to his master. Then the master of the house, being angry, said to his servant, 'Go out quickly into the streets and lanes of the city, and bring in here the poor and the maimed and the lame and the blind.'  22 And the servant said, 'Master, it is done as you commanded, and still there is room.'  23 Then the master said to the servant, 'Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled.  24 For I say to you that none of those men who were invited shall taste my supper.'"

Luke 14:28-33 NKJV

For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it —   29 lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him,  30 saying, 'This man began to build and was not able to finish.'  31 Or what king, going to make war against another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to meet him who comes against him with twenty thousand?  32 Or else, while the other is still a great way off, he sends a delegation and asks conditions of peace.  33 So likewise, whoever of you does not forsake all that he has cannot be My disciple.

HEARDWho is faithful in all the earth?

2 Chron 16:8-9 NKJV

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him.

Num 12:7-8  NKJV

Not so with My servant Moses; He is faithful in all My house. I speak with him face to face, Even plainly, and not in dark sayings; And he sees the form of the LORD. Why then were you not afraid  To speak against My servant Moses?"

IPOD CONFIRMATION COMMITMENT:  As I am typing in my rhema for last night, the IPOD was on shuffle and a 5 minute section from Bobby Conner’s track on Ruth came on.  It was about one’s level of commitment at the crossroads of decision.

BOBBY CONNER QUOTES FROM RUTH:

Ruth 1:6

Then she arose with her daughters in law, that she might return from the country of Moab: for she had heard in the country of Moab how that the LORD had visited his people in giving them bread.

“...On their way they started returning.   We got 3 on their way going back from Bethlehem to Judea.  Three is going to start, only 2 is going to make it.  Ruth said, dont keep following me anymore, go on back.  And they lifted up their voices and wept.  They basically said, No Mama!  I am with you.  No Mama!  You will hear that kind of stuff if you are a pastor.  I’m with ya!  You know what, you might as well wave bye-bye to them.  They aint going to hang around long.  They are always shoring themselves up saying you can trust me I will be with you to the bitter end.

So the 2 girls are saying, No Mama, I am with you!  They are weeping and emotional about it.  And they said in verse 10, surely we will be with thee and thy people.

So verse 11 Naomi begins to tighten the screws a little bit.  How many of you believe the Holy Spirit is tightening the screws about some of the things in the church today?   ....  There are people who are just following the Lord because they think they are going to get something out of it...”

Ruth 1:11-13

But Naomi said, "Turn back, my daughters; why will you go with me? Are there still sons in my womb, that they may be your husbands? 12 Turn back, my daughters, go — for I am too old to have a husband. If I should say I have hope, if I should have a husband tonight and should also bear sons, 13 would you wait for them till they were grown? Would you restrain yourselves from having husbands? No, my daughters; for it grieves me very much for your sakes that the hand of the LORD has gone out against me!"

“...I want us to see something right now about the word, Choice.  They both had the same opportunity, didnt they?  Both of these gals had the very same relationship with Naomi.  Look at the consequences of choices here.  Orpah makes the wrong choice.  You never hear another word in the Bible about Orpah...”

Ruth 1:14-15

Then they lifted up their voices and wept again; and Orpah kissed her mother-in-law, but Ruth clung to her. And she said, "Look, your sister-in-law has gone back to her people and to her gods; return after your sister-in-law."

{End Bobby Conner quote}

As I was pondering that 5 minutes on the IPOD, It was quickened to me to look up the names of Orpah and Ruth.  Boy what eye openers!

Orpah= Stiff necked

Ruth = Friend

Orpah

OT:6204 `Orpah (or-paw');

feminine of OT:6203; mane; Orpah, a Moabites:

KJV - Orpah.

`oreph

OT:6203 `oreph (o-ref'); from OT:6202; the nape or back of the neck (as declining); hence, the back generally (whether literal or figurative):

KJV - back ([stiff-] neck ([-ed).

Ruwth

OT:7327 Ruwth (rooth); probably for OT:7468; friend; Ruth, a Moabitess:

KJV - Ruth.

CONFIRMATION IPOD SONG:  Right after Bobby’s 5 minute track, the following came on my IPOD.  It is set to shuffle over 1,500 songs!

“Thank you for loving me.  And pursuing me.”

But Ruth said: "Entreat me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God.  17 Where you die, I will die, And there will I be buried. The LORD do so to me, and more also, If anything but death parts you and me."  18 When she saw that she was determined to go with her, she stopped speaking to her.

WORD TO PONDER:  KNOCKING FOR A COMMITMENT 1/08/08

There are seasons for knocking on doors and seasons for closing doors.  I have brought My people through an intense season of knocking on the doors of their hearts.  When they opened their door to My knocking, I drew them and called them.  I brought them through a maze of decisions where their hearts were made tender before Me.  I fed them with opportunity and intimacy as long as they kept their doors open.  Opportunities have narrowed as they have counted the cost and lacked the commitment to be My friend.  There will come a day when their hearts are set and then I will stop knocking.

Rev 3:17-22 NKJV

Because you say, 'I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing' — and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked —   18 I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see.  19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent.  20 Behold, I stand at the door and knock . If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.  21 To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.  22 "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches."

Luke 13:23-28 NKJV

Then one said to Him, "Lord, are there few who are saved?" And He said to them, 24 "Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.  25 When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying,'Lord, Lord, open for us,' and He will answer and say to you,'I do not know you, where you are from,'  26 then you will begin to say, 'We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.'  27 But He will say, 'I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.'

CONFIRMATION: Tonight after posting the above word, I went to our women’s meeting and the topic was Ruth. The speaker's first point was this question:

Are you going to be a Ruth or an Orpha?

Orpha returned home to her gods. Ruth made a vow of commitment to follow Naomi unto death. Naomi was a type of the Holy Spirit.

But Ruth said: "Entreat me not to leave you, Or to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall be my people, And your God, my God. 17 Where you die, I will die, And there will I be buried. The LORD do so to me, and more also, If anything but death parts you and me." Ruth 1:16,17 NKJV
