GRADUATING TO SELF CONTROL

HEARD:  Graduated.  Go up to the third level.  The third level is self control.

WORDS OF WISDOM:  GRADUATED INTO SELF CONTROL  7/04/08

Maturity is walking in the fruit of self control, having overcome the passions of the flesh and the desires of the soul. It is dead to lust, desire, and yearnings that crave to be filled.  These emotions are simply non-existent.  They do not beckon to the senses.  In knowing the secret of clinging to the Vine of Jesus Christ as the Source of all life, there is no more war.  In that place, the fruit of temperance lives in a balance of being a good steward over their temple, and yet being dead to appetites.

Gal 5:21-25  NKJV

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.

2 Peter 1:4-7 NKJV

 that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.  But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.
