THE AGONY OF WAITING

11/05/04

Feeling the agony of Abba waiting for His own

To decide whether they want Him is more than I can moan.

The ache in His heart as He yearns over them,

He only wants to love, not wanting to condemn.

His compassion to reach the ones that He loves

Is more than I can handle from His heart above.

Oh God how can you stand the ache in Your heart

When in silence your loved ones stay so apart?

Tis more than I am able to hold in myself.

Please grant me release from watching on Your shelf.

I am Your conduit, from whence Your heart flows,

But to feel Your pain is more than I can know.

You are breaking my heart with compassion so deep.

I am swimming in groans beyond what I can weep.

Have mercy on me and bring back the joy

Of fellowship sweet - communion to employ.

As the days are numbered on this waiting shelf,

I can not help but feel the climax in Your self.

The groan of waiting is beyond all compare

To face that demarcation line that is there.

To say goodbye or at arms length at best,

Or to hold a heart in Your bosom at rest.

The decision is not Yours, but theirs if they knew.

But blind they continue walking lives thrown askew.

Your children are many, as they walk around

Knowing not their Father, their eyes to the ground.

How You yearn to reach them and say that You care

Is beyond my compassion to hold back my share.

Oh God release me and send me from here

My groanings are deep beyond all compare

How can You stretch our small boxes of love

When it hurts to know the heart of Your Dove?

I am stretched to the max of what You have planted,

Unable to contain what You have granted.

Our human hearts are so cold and frozen

To feel Your passion over whom You have chosen.

Grant mercy I pray as You unthaw me this day

More grace is needed to stay in this way.

While Your wait is birthing beyond all compare,

Let me not fall short and into despair.

You said Your commandments are not grievous.

Yearning on my shelf, You will never leave us.

So comfort my heart with Your own that moans

As I transform anew from what You have grown.

To feel their hearts pumping to stay alive

As they wander their days wanting to revive.

Release me and send me to hearts that cry

They're hurting and wounded and cannot deny.

Their need for communion as they walk alone

To know You and each other straight to the bone.

No more masks that cloak the pain that is real

Covered in ice once frozen, encased in blue steel.

Bring breakthrough to all of these deep yearnings

Grant mercy and grace to what we are learning.

Now send forth these seeds of groaning so deep

Carry them in Your wind through prayer for release.

You said Your commandments are not grievous.

Yearning on my shelf, You will never leave us.

So comfort my heart with Your own that moans

As I transform anew from what You have grown.

Hag 2:19 NLT

I am giving you a promise now while the seed is still in the barn,
before you have harvested your grain and before the grapevine,
the fig tree, the pomegranate, and the olive tree have produced their crops.
From this day onward I will bless you."
